Spring 2023 | The State of AI + Realtime Advancements

Your update from the Digital Frontier

Hello Friends!

It has been an eventful spring over here at BOLDRVIZ!

We've:
- Onboarded a new 3D Architect + Modeler (Hey Geli!)
- Dove heads first into utilizing Miro for Project Management
- Wrote a blog about the current state of  AI and Architecture
- Been blown away by the latest Real-Time Developments via Unreal Engine

It is an exciting time in the field of Architectural Visualization and we are excited to share these developments with you.

NEW REALTIME ANIMATION FEATURE

SPRING AT TIMBERLINE RIDGE

Realtime Animation has made tremendous advances with the release of Unreal Engine 5

With the Unreal Engine, we are able to produce draft Animations at a fraction of the time it would take to do ones via 3dsMax and Corona.

Unreal Engine was previously pretty limited due to the need to Unwrap meshes in order to portray assets with proper lighting and the creation of alternative LOD models. This need, however, has been removed by two major features - Nanite and Lumen.

Nanite allows us to import highly detailed elements without having to spend excessive time optimizing them. It automatically handles Level of Detailing (LOD) and uses AI to recognize when we don't need to spend hardware performance for unseen objects.

Lumen, on the other hand, completely eliminates the need for artists to unwrap meshes to create light maps. It uses a fully dynamic global illumination system that calculates shadows on the fly. It is a significant time savings.

The only downside is that animated characters via Anima 5 are not currently supported and we are unable to show people in Unreal Engine projects. Anima has released an exciting sneak peek hinting at compatibility, but it has been over a year with no update.

With all these advancements, we can't wait to be using Unreal Engine on more animation projects and can see a day when we are using it for Static Renderings!

Miro Template
BOLDRVIZ 2023 PROJECT TEMPLATE

Miro is an exciting new collaborative Project Management tool.

With our remote offices, our team can meet virtually and tackle projects together. We've loved using it and decided to share a Miro Board Template outlining how we document our Architectural Visualization Projects!

We are still gaining approval on our Miroverse Template Submission

Spring 2023 | The State of AI + Architecture

AI integration will be revolutionary. Its ability to analyze large amounts of data and portray an opinion is impressive. For better or worse, AI’s impact will be akin to the Internet, the Personal Computer, and the Mobile Device.

As your partners on the digital frontier - we decided to dive deep and explore the current state of AI through the lens of an architect and a fictitious project we call Mesa Airport.
